About Merovex Press
Two Names, One Question
Merovex Press publishes science fiction, fantasy, and alternate history under two names.
Ben Wilson writes military science fiction and dark fantasy. The Postal Marines series follows soldiers embedded with hostile AI in a future where the mail must go through. Schism Arcane is a 16-book dark fantasy set during a magical Wars of Religion, where a free company leader discovers that the institution he serves may be the real enemy.
Troy Buzby writes alternate history. The Strand series begins in 1760s Pennsylvania, where the discovery of ancient technology upends the colonial balance of power and sends American history down a very different path. Troy Buzby exists as a separate pen name to avoid confusion with the historian Ben K. Wilson.
Both names ask the same question: what happens to ordinary people when the ground shifts under them?
The Person Writing These
Ben Wilson served nine years in the U.S. Army and spent 25+ years in technology leadership. He holds a J.D. and reads history the way some people watch sports: all periods, mostly European and North American, with a particular interest in the legal and political hinges where empires pivot.
He is a Christian. That shows up in the fiction, not as allegory with a key but as a persistent concern with what people owe each other, whether choices matter in a world that seems predetermined, and what happens when institutions built to serve the sacred become corrupt. His characters live in broken worlds. The question is always whether they break too.
